In these incredible times of trouble, there was nowhere to look but up, so look up we did. And the Lord was with us: weeping with us, pushing through closed doors with us, opening up opportunities, holding us, being strong for us, being patient with us. Every time there was an impossible roadblock, something no human could surpass, the Lord provided a way, and it was always more, and better than anything we could have created ourselves.
In that moment, at my counter, I took a deep breath, several actually. I reminded myself that Jesus wants me to come to him in these moments. We are weary; we are carrying heavy burdens. He wants us to come to Him when it feels like too much. He wants our burdens so he can trade them for his, and lighten our loads. He wants to give us rest.
Nothing the Lord desires in the world compares to each one of us. And that’s true for every one of us. It’s not only true for those who are always doing right. It’s not only true for those who are good, or who have it all together. It is true all day every day no matter how I act, no matter what I accomplish.
